Port Qasim Reports Active Shipping Operations on April 9

Karachi, April 9, 2025 – The Port Qasim Authority (PQA) has released its daily report on shipping operations, offering detailed insights into vessel movements and cargo handling at the Port on Wednesday.

The update, aimed at enhancing transparency and coordination among maritime stakeholders, covers activities reported during the last 24 hours up to 0800 hours.

The report highlights continued momentum in Port Qasim’s operations, with multiple vessels handling essential cargo such as coal, LPG, palm kernel, and containers. These movements reflect the Port’s strategic role in sustaining Pakistan’s trade and energy supply chains.

In terms of vessel departures, the coal-laden M.V. RIVA WIND departed the Port from the Pakistan International Bulk Terminal (PIBT) at 10:00 AM. The vessel carried 51,420 metric tons of imported coal and was managed by Ocean World. Meanwhile, M.T. AL DIAB II, a LPG tanker, departed from the SSGC terminal at 3:30 PM under the management of Universal Shipping.

Active operations continued with several berthings. The container vessel M.V. MAERSK CAPETOWN berthed at QICT-V at 9:00 AM, managed by GAC Shipping. Shortly after, M.V. MSC LAUSANNE VI docked at QICT-VII, also loaded with containers and handled by MSC Pakistan.

Later in the day, M.V. KEN STAR carrying 27,500 metric tons of palm kernel arrived at PIBT at 12:30 PM under Al-Pine Marine. M.V. APL MEXICO CITY, a large container vessel, berthed at QT2-I at 1:00 PM with CMA CGM Pakistan overseeing the operations. Two additional vessels, M.T. AMIR GAS and M.V. GFS RANNA, were also scheduled to begin Port operations later in the evening.

These shipping operations are vital for supporting Pakistan’s import-export landscape, especially amid fluctuating global trade dynamics. The Port continues to serve as a crucial maritime gateway, facilitating bulk cargo and container traffic through seamless operations.

PQA’s consistent updates on shipping movements ensure that all relevant parties remain informed, supporting efficient planning and logistic coordination. As trade volumes increase, Port Qasim’s commitment to enhancing shipping operations underscores its role in national economic development.
