Academy Award-winning actress Emma Stone has opened up about her reluctance to join Instagram, admitting she is “afraid” of the impact social media could have on her mental health. In a candid interview with Rolling Stone, the 37-year-old star explained that she prefers being a “lurker,” enjoying other people’s content without creating a profile herself.

When asked whether she might launch a lifestyle website, Stone was definitive: “One hundred percent no.” She emphasized, “That’s why I don’t even have Instagram. I’m too afraid of my own mental health to be engaged in that way, and that’s why I’m such a lurker and love following other people’s stuff.”

Despite her cautious approach to social media, Stone is set to feature in a new Squarespace commercial, in which the platform helps her secure her own website domain. Filmed ahead of Super Bowl LX, the 30-second ad will air between the first and second quarters on Sunday, giving viewers a glimpse of the actress navigating the digital world with Squarespace’s guidance.

Reflecting on the experience, Stone admitted she had previously never purchased her own website domain, calling it a “lack of foresight” on her part. “I don’t know why I never actually did that. Squarespace kind of had to deal with my lack of foresight. So, I’m very grateful they did, or else the commercial really would not have worked,” she said.

The actress added humorously, “It would have been weird if you went to EmmaStone.com and it was… I don’t even know what might have been going on over there.”

Emma Stone’s candid take on social media and mental health highlights the growing awareness of online pressures, while her upcoming Super Bowl ad showcases her collaboration with Squarespace, bringing her unique personality to one of television’s biggest stages.

Fans can watch the commercial live during Super Bowl LX on Sunday, marking Stone’s playful entrance into the digital spotlight without fully embracing social media herself.
