Enaam Ahmed Secures 5th Place in Detroit Grand Prix

Enaam Ahmed, a talented British Pakistani sports racer, achieved a remarkable feat by clinching a top-five finish in the Detroit Grand Prix. The event, held in the renowned auto manufacturing capital of the US, Detroit, was part of Round 4 of the 2023 IndyNXT by Firestone.

Despite a suspension part failure during qualifying, the 23-year-old Enaam Ahmed swiftly made up ground from a starting position outside the top 10.

On the opening lap, he skillfully maneuvered his way to avoid a collision when Louis Foster’s car was spun around by Hunter McElrea, overtaking two cars in a single corner and securing a spot in the top 5.

Enaam’s daring overtaking maneuvers left the American spectators in awe, earning him the nickname “Pakistani Panther.” This marks his second top-five finish in a month, surpassing some of the world’s most talented racing drivers in America.

Reflecting on his performance, a thrilled Enaam shared, “The concrete canyon that is the Detroit Street circuit was chaotic at the start, but I managed to pass seven cars and pick up several places to finish fifth in the race.”

With fourth-place finishes at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama and now the recent success in Detroit, Enaam has climbed to 8th place in the championship standings.

As a rookie in the series, he acknowledges the importance of learning from his team and aims to gain experience on American ovals and adapt to the unique racing style.

Enaam Ahmed’s illustrious career, representing Pakistan, has already surpassed the records of Formula One drivers Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen.

Notably, he is the British Formula 3 Champion and the first-ever high-level Formula Championship winner in Pakistan’s history, surpassing Ayrton Senna’s record by securing 13 victories in a single season.

Enaam’s exceptional performance in the Detroit Grand Prix has further solidified his position as a rising star in the world of motorsports, and he remains determined to fight for the championship title this year.
