Islamabad, August 28, 2025 – In a significant move to uphold the rights of retired workers, the Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) has released long-delayed pensions and dues following a directive from the Federal Ombudsman.
The case involved three old-age citizens who had been struggling for more than three years to secure their rightful benefits. Despite having registered employment histories at various mills, the retirees alleged that the EOBI had withheld their pensions without providing any clear justification, leaving them financially vulnerable during their retirement years.
Upon receiving their complaint, Federal Ombudsman Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi assigned Advisor Muhammad Rashid Qamar to investigate the matter through the regional office in Multan. After reviewing the case, the advisor concluded that there was no legal or procedural basis for the prolonged withholding of pension payments.
Acting swiftly, the Ombudsman’s office directed the EOBI to immediately process and release the pending dues. In compliance with the order, the EOBI issued the overdue pensions and handed over cheques to the complainants, finally bringing relief after years of uncertainty.
The beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Federal Ombudsman and Advisor Rashid Qamar for intervening effectively and ensuring justice. They also urged authorities to strengthen oversight mechanisms within the EOBI to prevent similar delays in future pension disbursements.
This resolution highlights the critical role of institutional accountability in safeguarding the welfare of old-age citizens and reinforcing public confidence in grievance redressal mechanisms.
