Farhan Akhtar has finally addressed the much-discussed decision to cast Ranveer Singh in the lead role of the highly anticipated “Don 3,” replacing Shah Rukh Khan.
The news, which has sparked intense debate among fans, was clarified by the filmmaker in a recent conversation with Faye D’Souza.
During the chat, Farhan explained that while Shah Rukh Khan was initially considered to reprise his role, creative differences led the project in a different direction. “When I first started thinking about Don 3, I obviously thought of writing something with Shah Rukh in it.
However, we couldn’t find the right place to take the story, and we couldn’t find common ground. So, I decided to rethink the film and delve deeper into what made Don, Don. That’s when Ranveer Singh felt like the perfect fit for the role,” Farhan shared.
The decision to recast the iconic character has generated a mix of excitement and skepticism. Shah Rukh Khan’s portrayal of Don in the first two installments was both critically acclaimed and beloved by fans. However, Farhan’s statement suggests that the evolution of the storyline called for a fresh face to take the franchise forward.
In addition to the casting news, there are whispers that actress Sobhita Dhulipala may join the cast of “Don 3” for a special dance number. Sobhita, who has been in the spotlight recently due to her engagement to actor Naga Chaitanya, is reportedly in talks with Farhan Akhtar. If finalized, her inclusion could bring a new dynamic to the film.
