Islamabad, November 26, 2025 – The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced that Saturday, November 29, 2025, will be treated as a normal working day across all Inland Revenue field formations, despite it being a weekly holiday.
The decision has been taken to enhance the month-end collection of duties and taxes as the government pushes to meet its revenue targets.
In an official circular issued on Wednesday, the FBR directed Large Taxpayers Offices (LTOs), Medium Taxpayers Office (MTO), Corporate Tax Offices (CTOs), and Regional Tax Offices (RTOs) to remain open and ensure full operational activity on the specified date. The communication emphasized the need for staff availability to facilitate taxpayers and ensure smooth processing of payments, assessments, and compliance matters.
According to sources within the revenue authority, the move aims to reduce the shortfall in November’s collection and support the government’s wider fiscal strategy. They added that extending working hours and opening offices on non-working days has become necessary in months where revenue pressures increase.
The federal government has set an ambitious revenue target of Rs 14.13 trillion for the fiscal year 2025–26, reflecting a 20.3 percent increase compared to the Rs 11.74 trillion collected in the previous fiscal year. Achieving this target requires heightened enforcement, improved monitoring, and continued implementation of tax policy measures introduced earlier in the year.
The FBR remains confident that through enhanced administrative efforts and increased taxpayer engagement, the collection goals for both November and the full fiscal year can be met successfully.
