Tax officials who have yet to submit details of foreign nationality or travel documents must file the prescribed declaration within seven days
ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the deadline by one week for its officers to submit declarations regarding foreign nationality and foreign travel documents.
In a circular issued on October 6, 2026, the FBR said a number of officers had still not submitted the required declaration despite earlier instructions and the expiry of the statutory deadline.
The FBR had initially directed its officers through circulars issued on June 9 and August 31, 2026, to submit the declaration on the prescribed proforma by July 8, 2026.
The requirement followed the Establishment Division’s S.R.O. No. 893(I)/2026 dated June 1, 2026, issued under the Civil Servants (Disclosure and Regulation of Foreign Nationality) Rules, 2026.
Under Rule 3(3) of the rules, the declaration was required to be submitted within 90 days, with the deadline falling on August 30, 2026. The FBR noted that this deadline had also expired.
Seven-day extension
In view of the outstanding declarations, the FBR has now directed all officers who have not yet provided the required information to submit the duly completed prescribed proforma to their respective Secretaries of the Management Wing through the designated email addresses within seven days.
The board has instructed heads of all field formations to ensure compliance with the directions previously communicated in its June 9 circular.
The FBR has also reminded officers of the consequences of failing to comply with the declaration requirement.
Rule 1(4) of the Civil Servants (Disclosure and Regulation of Foreign Nationality) Rules, 2026 provides that failure to submit the declaration required under the rules, or making a false declaration, shall constitute misconduct under the Civil Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 2020.
The FBR directed that the matter be treated as most urgent and called upon all concerned officers to complete the required declaration within the newly granted seven-day period.
