Two Enforcement Squad personnel embraced martyrdom while performing duty at Qureshi Mor, Bypass Road
ISLAMABAD: Two officials of the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) Enforcement Squad embraced martyrdom after unidentified armed assailants opened fire on them while they were performing duty in Dera Ismail Khan.
According to the FBR, the incident occurred at approximately 11:30am at Qureshi Mor on Bypass Road, where three Enforcement Squad personnel — Sepoy Izharullah, Arm Guard Rahmatullah and Sepoy Sulaiman — were deployed at a designated point.
Unidentified armed persons arrived at the location and opened fire on the officials. As a result, Arm Guard Rahmatullah and Sepoy Sulaiman embraced martyrdom, while Sepoy Izharullah remained safe.
The FBR said Sepoy Izharullah returned fire during the incident, forcing the assailants to flee the scene. The attackers also took away official arms and ammunition issued to the Enforcement Squad personnel.
FBR Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyred officials and paid tribute to their courage, dedication and commitment to duty.
The chairman said the sacrifices made by FBR personnel while performing their responsibilities in the line of duty would not be forgotten.
The FBR expressed solidarity with the families of the deceased officials and said it stands firmly with all personnel carrying out their duties in the service of the country.
The incident has highlighted the risks faced by enforcement personnel while carrying out field operations and official duties.
