New PRAL Facilitation Desk at LTO Karachi to Simplify Digital Tax Services for Businesses

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has taken another step toward improving taxpayer services by establishing a dedicated Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL) Front Desk at the Large Taxpayers Office (LTO) Karachi.

The new facility became operational on June 5, 2026, and is aimed at providing faster and more efficient support to the city’s business community.

The initiative has been introduced following directives from the Prime Minister of Pakistan and in response to long-standing requests from Karachi’s business sector for improved technical assistance related to digital tax services.

The facilitation center is headed by a Chief (Inland Revenue Operations) and is supported by a specialized PRAL team equipped with the necessary IT infrastructure.

According to the FBR, the newly established front desk will act as a one-window support center for taxpayers facing issues related to the IRIS portal, e-filing, taxpayer registration, online tax payments, sales tax return submissions, refund processing, and other digital tax-related services.

Businesses will now have access to on-site technical support, reducing delays and helping resolve issues more efficiently.

A Boost for Karachi’s Business Community

Karachi, being Pakistan’s largest commercial hub, generates a significant portion of the country’s tax revenue.

The establishment of a dedicated PRAL facilitation desk is expected to improve communication between taxpayers and tax authorities while minimizing technical hurdles that often slow down compliance processes.

Business owners and tax professionals are likely to benefit from quicker issue resolution, smoother access to online systems, and enhanced guidance on digital tax procedures.

This move could also reduce dependency on remote support channels and improve overall user experience for taxpayers.

Supporting Digital Transformation

The launch of the PRAL Front Desk is part of FBR’s broader strategy to modernize tax administration through technology-driven solutions.

By strengthening taxpayer facilitation and improving service delivery, the tax authority aims to encourage voluntary compliance and make tax processes more transparent and accessible.

Why This Matters

As Pakistan continues its push toward digital governance, initiatives like the PRAL Front Desk can play a crucial role in improving efficiency and building trust among taxpayers.

If implemented effectively, the facility may help streamline tax operations, reduce administrative challenges, and contribute to a more responsive and business-friendly tax environment.
