ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued an office order detailing special office timings to be observed during the holy month of Ramazan, according to an announcement made on Tuesday.
In accordance with the Establishment Division’s Notification dated March 20, 2023, the FBR (HQ) and all its field formations will adhere to the following office timings throughout the upcoming Holy Month of Ramazan:
Monday to Thursday: 07:30 AM to 01:30 PM
Friday: 07:30 AM to 12:00 PM
The decision to implement adjusted office timings during Ramazan is a routine practice by governmental organizations in Pakistan. These modified schedules are aimed at accommodating the religious and cultural practices of employees during the month of fasting.
The special timings are designed to ensure that government officials can effectively balance their professional responsibilities with the observance of religious duties during the holy month. By concluding office hours earlier on Fridays, employees have the opportunity to participate in congregational Friday prayers and commence their weekend activities promptly.
Observing reduced working hours during Ramazan is seen as a supportive measure by the FBR, acknowledging the significance of the holy month and providing a conducive environment for employees to fulfill their spiritual and religious obligations.
The month of Ramazan holds great religious importance for Muslims worldwide, marked by fasting from dawn to sunset, increased prayer, reflection, and acts of charity. It is a time of spiritual growth, self-discipline, and communal unity.
The FBR’s decision to adapt office hours during this period reflects an understanding of the cultural and religious diversity within the workforce. These considerations contribute to fostering a positive work environment and facilitating the well-being of employees.
The announcement of special office timings during Ramazan is not unique to the FBR but is a practice observed across various government departments and institutions. This tradition aligns with the principles of inclusivity and respect for diverse religious practices in the country.
It’s worth noting that businesses and private sector entities in Pakistan also often adjust their operational hours during Ramazan, recognizing the need to accommodate employees’ religious commitments.
In conclusion, the FBR’s issuance of special office timings for Ramazan 2023 exemplifies a commitment to inclusivity and acknowledges the importance of facilitating an environment that respects and accommodates the religious practices of its workforce.
