FBR Offices to Observe Normal Working Hours During Eid Holidays

Islamabad, June 24, 2023: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in Pakistan has announced that the field offices of Inland Revenue will maintain normal working hours during the upcoming Eid holidays.

This decision aims to facilitate taxpayers in the payment of duty and taxes.

In an official statement, the FBR advised the Chief Commissioner of Inland Revenue to instruct a limited number of officers and officials (approximately eight to ten individuals) involved in taxpayers’ facilitation, tax collection, and recovery to attend office on June 28 and June 30, 2023, with regular working hours.

Pakistan is preparing to celebrate Eid ul Azha on June 29, 2023, and the government has announced Eid holidays from June 28 to June 30, 2023, to allow citizens to observe the festive occasion. Despite the holidays, the FBR has taken the initiative to ensure that essential services for taxpayers remain accessible.

As June marks the last month of the fiscal year in Pakistan, the FBR is particularly keen to boost tax collection to meet the desired targets. By keeping the offices open during the Eid holidays, the FBR hopes to provide an opportunity for individuals and businesses to fulfill their tax obligations conveniently.

In addition to maintaining normal working hours during the Eid holidays, the FBR has further directed all field formations of the Inland Revenue Service to remain open until 10:00 PM on June 27, 2023, the day before the Eid holidays commence. This extended timing will provide an additional window for taxpayers to visit the offices and complete their tax-related matters before the holidays begin.
