Islamabad, February 27, 2026 – The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has directed all Inland Revenue (IR) offices to operate a full working day on Saturday, February 28, 2026, to facilitate collection of duties and taxes from taxpayers.
The FBR specified that Large Taxpayers’ Offices (LTOs), Medium Taxpayers’ Offices (MTOs), Corporate Tax Offices (CTOs), and Regional Tax Offices (RTOs) will remain open as a normal working day to ensure smooth processing of tax payments.
Banks to Support Tax Collection
Following the FBR directive, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) instructed commercial banks to assist taxpayers in completing their government duty and tax payments for February 2026. Key measures include:
• Extended hours: All commercial bank branches, including National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) branches handling customs collections, will operate from 09:00 AM to 01:00 PM on February 28.
• Over-the-counter and digital payments: Banks will ensure uninterrupted access to internet banking, mobile banking apps, ATMs, and other digital channels to allow taxpayers to make payments conveniently.
• Special clearing arrangements: NIFT will facilitate smooth government transactions to reduce delays.
Taxpayer Guidance
The SBP emphasized that these measures are part of ongoing efforts to streamline tax collection, reduce bottlenecks, and provide multiple payment options for citizens and businesses. Taxpayers are encouraged to take advantage of both over-the-counter and digital facilities to meet their obligations on time, ensuring compliance with federal tax regulations.
This coordinated initiative by FBR and SBP reflects the government’s commitment to efficient tax administration and enhancing taxpayer convenience across the country.
