FBR Promotion Exam 2025: IR Inspector Post via FPSC

Inland Revenue Service

Islamabad, October 1, 2025 – The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has officially announced that a departmental promotion examination will be held through the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) for the much-anticipated post of Inland Revenue Inspector (BS-16).

According to the notification, as many as 488 employees, including supervisors, steno-typists, upper division clerks (UDCs), and lower division clerks (LDCs) from Inland Revenue field formations, have applied online to sit for the promotion test. The FPSC has directed the FBR to confirm the eligibility of all applicants before October 8, 2025, to ensure transparency in the recruitment process for the inspector position.

The FBR has instructed all field offices to carefully scrutinize the list of applicants and verify the eligibility criteria with reference to their length of service, current postings, and regular appointments. It has also been directed that the verified list, duly stamped and signed by the respective ADC/DCIR (Headquarters), must reach the FBR by October 7, 2025.

Officials further cautioned that if any field office fails to confirm the eligibility of a candidate within the given deadline, the board will not forward that individual’s name to FPSC for consideration. In such cases, responsibility will rest solely on the concerned officer in charge.

The departmental promotion examination for the Inland Revenue Inspector post is seen as a major career milestone for many mid-level employees within FBR, opening pathways for further advancement and professional growth.
