Two IRS officers suspended and two repatriated to FBR headquarters as the revenue authority initiates disciplinary action over alleged misconduct.
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has suspended two Inland Revenue Service (IRS) officers and repatriated two others to its headquarters for further investigation over an unauthorised press statement and a call to halt official work.

According to an FBR news release issued on Monday, the suspended officers belong to Basic Scale (BS) 20 and BS 19, respectively. The two other officers, both serving in BS 20, have been directed to return to FBR headquarters as part of the investigation.
The FBR said the officers’ conduct was, prima facie, a violation of Rules 23 and 26 of the Civil Servants (Conduct) Rules, 2026, framed under the Civil Servants Act, 1973. The department said the alleged violations also constituted misconduct under Rule 34.
The revenue authority stated that it would not tolerate such misconduct and that disciplinary proceedings would be initiated against the officers under the Civil Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 2020.
The action comes amid tensions surrounding a call for government employees to suspend official work. The FBR’s statement indicates that the department is treating the unauthorised communication and work stoppage call as potential breaches of civil service conduct rules.

Further action against the officers will depend on the outcome of the relevant disciplinary proceedings.
