Florence Pugh couldn’t hold back her tears as she uncovered the deeply sentimental history behind her name. The 29-year-old actress, known for her captivating performances, revealed that her name holds an unexpected connection to her ancestors, making the moment even more emotional.

During the premiere episode of No Taste Like Home with Antoni Porowski, Florence Pugh was taken aback when she learned that she shared her name with a 19th-century relative. The discovery left her feeling overwhelmed, as she reflected on the striking similarities between herself and her historical namesake.

“I feel quite emotional,” Florence Pugh admitted, her voice trembling with sentiment. “My parents had no idea—I was named after the city. My mum is going to scream when she hears this!” she added, clearly astonished by the revelation.

As she delved deeper into the history of the other Florence, curiosity overtook her. “I’m so intrigued that there was another Florence. Where is she? Where did she go? Where did she live? Did she have children?” she wondered aloud.

However, the actress was met with heartbreaking news—her 19th-century counterpart passed away shortly before her fifth birthday, most likely due to tuberculosis. The shocking parallel between their lives left Florence Pugh visibly shaken.

“This is also very strange as I had lots of problems growing up with my breathing and constantly being ill and going in and out of hospitals,” she shared. The Don’t Worry Darling star opened up about her childhood struggles, revealing that her health had always been fragile.

Florence Pugh further disclosed that at birth, doctors had warned her parents that she might not survive. “I wasn’t supposed to live. When I was born, they told my parents that it wasn’t going to happen and to just enjoy the time while they had it.”

The actress has previously spoken about her tracheomalacia diagnosis as a child, a condition that caused severe breathing issues and required frequent hospital visits. Despite her early struggles, Florence Pugh’s resilience has led her to become one of Hollywood’s most celebrated stars, making her name all the more meaningful.
