Large quantity of fake, substandard and expired food products destroyed as authorities intensify food safety enforcement across Hazara Division.
The Food Safety and Halal Food Authority (FS&HFA), Hazara Division, has destroyed a significant quantity of unsafe, expired and substandard food products seized during recent inspections and enforcement operations.
The move highlights the authority’s continued efforts to protect public health and ensure that consumers have access to safe, quality and halal food products.
The destruction of the confiscated items was carried out on Thursday in line with the prescribed legal procedures.
The process was supervised by Regional Director of the Food Safety and Halal Food Authority Hazara, Mubashir Manzoor, along with Deputy Director (Headquarters) Rehman Gul, ensuring transparency and compliance with regulatory standards.
The destroyed stock included fake honey, counterfeit beverages sold under different brand names, China salt, Talbina, biscuits, packing rolls, pops and various other expired and substandard food products.
These items had been confiscated during inspection drives conducted across different districts of Hazara Division as part of the authority’s routine monitoring and enforcement activities.
Officials said the operation reflects the authority’s ongoing commitment to eliminating unsafe food products from the market. Regular inspections are being carried out to identify businesses involved in the production, storage or sale of food items that fail to meet the required quality and safety standards.
Speaking on the occasion, Regional Director Mubashir Manzoor said the destruction of the seized products demonstrated the authority’s zero-tolerance policy against violations that pose risks to public health.
He urged food manufacturers, distributors and retailers to strictly comply with food safety regulations and warned that strict legal action would continue against anyone found violating the law.
He further stated that inspection campaigns and monitoring activities would continue throughout Hazara Division to ensure consumers receive safe, hygienic and halal food products.
According to the authority, sustained enforcement is essential to maintaining confidence in the food supply chain and discouraging illegal practices.
Deputy Director (Headquarters) Rehman Gul reiterated that safeguarding public health remains the authority’s highest priority.
He emphasized that there would be no compromise on the production, storage or sale of expired, counterfeit or substandard food items, adding that enforcement teams will continue taking decisive action against violators to ensure food safety standards are upheld across the region.
