Ford Performance Unleashes SuperVan 4.2 at Pikes Peak

Ford Performance is readying the remarkable SuperVan 4.2 for the prestigious Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The electrifying entry is set to showcase its groundbreaking design, advanced technologies, and unique features optimized for the challenging hill climb.

Ford Performance has a long-standing history at the iconic Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, dating back to the first race in 1916 with a Ford Model T.

This year, motorsports legend Romain Dumas will take the wheel of the SuperVan 4.2, continuing Ford’s rich tradition at America’s renowned mountain race with his extensive experience and exceptional skill set.

In collaboration with STARD Advanced Research and Development, Ford Performance has meticulously developed the SuperVan 4.2 to conquer the demanding terrain and push the boundaries of electric power.

As the automotive industry moves towards an electrified future, the SuperVan 4.2 takes center stage, highlighting the immense potential of electric vehicles in motorsports.

Powertrain:

The powertrain of the SuperVan 4.2 has also undergone refinements. With three STARD UHP 6-phase motors and STARD’s Ultra High Performance Li-Polymer NMC pouch cells, the van achieves an optimal power-to-weight ratio.

Its all-wheel-drive system consists of one motor powering the front and two in the rear, delivering a combined discharge power of over 1,050 kW (1,400 horsepower). The van also leverages its battery’s improved 600 kW regeneration performance for optimal energy utilization.

Exterior:

The SuperVan 4.2 features a redesigned aerodynamics system, specifically engineered to slice through the high-altitude air of Pikes Peak while generating over 4,400 pounds of downforce at 150 miles per hour.

Notable aero enhancements include a lightweight carbon fiber rear spoiler and front splitter, ensuring the SuperVan 4.2 remains firmly planted on the winding mountain roads. Additionally, the chassis has undergone weight reduction, enhancing balance and agility on the challenging terrain.

Ford Performance and STARD have equipped the SuperVan 4.2 with a revised regenerative braking system, carbon ceramic brake discs, magnesium forged wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero™ race tires, upgraded driveshafts, a perspex windscreen, and a minimalist race interior. These enhancements ensure the van sheds unnecessary weight and maximizes its performance during the race.

With the all-new SuperVan 4.2, Ford Performance aims to make a statement at the Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, demonstrating the electrifying potential of electric vehicles in the world of motorsports.
