Ford Updates EV & Hybrid Plans, Launching 3-Row EVs in 2027

Ford Motor Company announced the updates to its electric vehicle (EV) and hybrid plans while preparing its manufacturing plants for the future.

Ford is adjusting the launch timing for its upcoming electric vehicles at its Oakville, Ontario assembly plant. Simultaneously, the company is developing an advanced industrial system to manufacture its next-generation electric vehicles. This includes both greenfield construction projects and the conversion of existing assembly plants.

As part of its commitment to building a comprehensive EV lineup, Ford is investing in various EV programs. Additionally, the company is expanding its offerings of hybrid electric vehicles. By the end of the decade, Ford aims to provide hybrid powertrains across its entire Ford Blue lineup in North America.

At the Tennessee Electric Vehicle Center assembly plant in BlueOval City, equipment installation is in progress. The plant is slated to start delivering Ford’s next-generation electric truck to customers in 2026.

Expansion work is underway at the Ohio Assembly Plant in Avon Lake to produce a new electric commercial vehicle for Ford Pro customers starting in the mid-decade. Meanwhile, construction is advancing at BlueOval Battery Park Michigan, as well as at the BlueOval SK joint venture battery plants in Tennessee and Kentucky.

Ford reiterates its commitment to the Oakville, Ontario assembly plant, where the launch of its all-new three-row electric vehicles is now scheduled for 2027.

Design efforts are ongoing for future EVs, including a flexible small and affordable EV platform being developed by a skunkworks team based in California.

By updating its EV and hybrid plans and readying its manufacturing plants, Ford aims to further its position in the electric vehicle market while meeting the evolving needs of consumers.
