KARACHI: The open market exchange rates of foreign currencies in Pakistani Rupee (PKR) for October 12, 2022, have been announced. These rates, updated at 9:00 AM Pakistan Standard Time, provide essential guidance for traders, investors, and individuals dealing in foreign exchange transactions.
The US Dollar (USD) remains a crucial currency in Pakistan’s foreign exchange market. It opened at a buying rate of PKR 217.00 and a selling rate of PKR 219.00, indicating steady demand amidst ongoing economic pressures. The Saudi Riyal (SAR), a vital currency due to remittances and trade ties, traded at PKR 57.50 for buying and PKR 58.20 for selling, reflecting its consistent value.
Similarly, the UAE Dirham (AED) traded at PKR 59.00 buying and PKR 59.80 selling, showcasing its importance for trade and expatriate remittances. The Euro (EUR), one of the stronger foreign currencies, stood at PKR 210.00 for buying and PKR 212.50 for selling, maintaining its significant role in global trade and finance.
The UK Pound Sterling (GBP) continued its dominance as one of the highest-valued foreign currencies, trading at PKR 239.00 buying and PKR 242.00 selling. Meanwhile, the Japanese Yen (JPY) remained stable, with rates of PKR 1.47 for buying and PKR 1.49 for selling, offering minimal fluctuations in value.
Other notable foreign currencies include the Swiss Franc (CHF), which was traded at PKR 215.50 for buying and PKR 216.50 for selling, highlighting its stability as a global reserve currency. The Australian Dollar (AUD) also showed consistent activity, with buying and selling rates of PKR 135.00 and PKR 137.00, respectively, reflecting its steady demand.
The Chinese Yuan (CNY), increasingly relevant due to strong trade relations, stood at PKR 30.00 buying and PKR 32.00 selling. The Canadian Dollar (CAD) experienced a slightly higher variance, trading at PKR 156.00 for buying and PKR 168.00 for selling.
Rates for neighboring countries’ currencies, such as the Indian Rupee (INR) and Afghan Afghani (AFN), were also updated. The INR traded at PKR 2.30 buying and PKR 2.70 selling, while the AFN was quoted at PKR 2.00 buying and PKR 2.50 selling.
