GAC’s new plug-in hybrid SUV combines high ground clearance, up to 261 km of electric range and advanced driver-assistance technology.
GAC has officially introduced the Yue 7 plug-in hybrid SUV in China, positioning the large crossover against models such as the BYD Ti 7. The new SUV starts at 161,800 yuan (approximately $24,150) under a limited-time offer, while its regular pricing ranges from 169,800 to 215,800 yuan.
The Yue 7 is also planned for international markets, where it will reportedly be sold under the GAC XT80 name. The model has already been previewed for the UAE market, indicating that GAC is preparing it for a broader global rollout.
Large SUV With Rugged Styling
The Yue 7 features a monocoque construction combined with a rugged exterior design. It measures 5,045 mm in length, 2,004 mm in width and 1,933 mm in height, with a 2,900 mm wheelbase.
The SUV offers 230 mm of standard ground clearance, while its available air suspension can raise clearance to 310 mm. Wide wheel arches, rectangular headlights, traditional door handles and a swing-out tailgate contribute to its distinctive appearance.
PHEV Powertrain and Electric Range
Power comes from a 1.5-liter petrol engine producing 125 kW (168 hp). The front-wheel-drive version uses a 205 kW (275 hp) electric motor and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds.
The all-wheel-drive variant adds a rear electric motor rated at 220 kW (295 hp), cutting the 0–100 km/h sprint to 4.2 seconds. Buyers can choose between 28.3 kWh and 50 kWh battery packs, providing a CLTC electric range of 161 to 261 km.
Technology-Focused Interior
Inside, the five-seat SUV features a 1.1-meter panoramic display, a 15.6-inch central touchscreen and three instrument gauges. Physical controls, wireless charging and multiple storage areas are integrated into the center console.
The second-row seats recline up to 127 degrees, while luggage capacity stands at 745 liters and expands to 1,860 liters with the rear seats folded.
ADAS Features
The Yue 7 comes with GAC’s ADiGO 3.0 driver-assistance system and 27 sensors. The range-topping version adds a roof-mounted LiDAR system and supports Navigate On Autopilot functions for urban roads and highways. These remain Level 2 assistance features, requiring continuous driver supervision.
