The automaker’s partnership with Google will introduce AI-powered voice assistance, navigation and app downloads to selected overseas models from the second half of 2027.
Geely is preparing to upgrade the digital experience in its international vehicle lineup through a new partnership with Google, bringing services such as Google Gemini, Google Maps and Google Play to selected cars in overseas markets from the second half of 2027.
The announcement was made by Geely Holding Group on October 16, with the company confirming plans to develop a connected digital cockpit ecosystem for its passenger vehicles in markets where Google services are available. The name of the first model featuring the new technology has not yet been revealed.
Google Gemini to Enhance In-Car Experience
The integration will introduce artificial intelligence-powered voice assistance, allowing drivers to interact with their vehicles more naturally. Google Gemini is expected to help users perform everyday tasks through voice commands, while Google Maps will provide navigation and help locate destinations and nearby electric vehicle charging stations.
Google Play will also allow compatible vehicles to access and download a range of applications, expanding the entertainment and convenience features available inside the cabin.
Geely Holding Group Chief Technology Officer Dr. Shen Yuan said the collaboration would connect the company’s vehicles with digital services that drivers already use in their daily lives. The objective is to make vehicle technology easier to operate rather than adding unnecessary complexity to the driving experience.
According to Shen, an effective digital cockpit should reduce distractions and simplify routine actions by making essential functions more intuitive and accessible.
Geely Expands Its Global Technology Strategy
The Google agreement follows other digital initiatives across Geely’s automotive portfolio, reflecting the company’s efforts to make its vehicles more competitive in international markets.
Its premium brand Zeekr has also been developing connected entertainment features. The company previously partnered with AirConsole to explore cloud-based gaming inside vehicles and signed an agreement with 3 Screen Solutions in April 2026 to develop a digital media platform based on Android Automotive OS.
These initiatives indicate a broader focus on software, connectivity and in-car entertainment alongside traditional vehicle development.
Geely Holding Group operates a diverse automotive portfolio that includes Geely, Geely Galaxy, Zeekr, Lynk & Co, Volvo, Polestar, Lotus, Smart, Farizon, Proton, LEVC and Riddara.
The planned Google integration could strengthen the appeal of selected Geely vehicles among international buyers seeking familiar digital services and smarter in-car technology. However, availability will depend on market support, and further details about compatible models and features are expected closer to the rollout.
