Hollywood icon George Clooney has opened up about the key to his long-lasting and happy marriage with human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, revealing that mutual respect, support, and maturity are at the heart of their relationship.
In an interview with CBS News’ Seth Doane, which aired on November 2, the Ocean’s Eleven star shared that he and Amal have “never had a fight” since getting married in 2014 — a statement that continues to surprise fans.
“When you’re younger, you want to be right about everything — like ‘don’t paint that colour on the wall,’” George explained. “But now, I’m at a point in life where if she wants to paint the wall red, I don’t care.”
The ER and Batman & Robin actor reflected on how age and experience have shaped his perspective on relationships. “We have a really amazing relationship because we’re so supportive of each other,” he said. “There were things I might’ve argued about before, but now I just think — it doesn’t matter.”
George also spoke about embracing ageing gracefully, saying he’s learned to let go of vanity. “You’re chasing your tail, man. It’s going to bite you,” he joked. “I am who I am. I look like what I look like, and that’s all right.”
The Ticket to Paradise star concluded by confirming that, despite his evolving outlook, he has no plans to retire from Hollywood anytime soon.
