Gigi Hadid began her New York Fashion Week schedule with a very different kind of appointment before stepping onto the runway for Tommy Hilfiger.
The supermodel revealed that she dropped her five-year-old daughter, Khai, at school on the morning of the Tommy Hilfiger Spring 2027 show before heading straight to the fashion event.
“I dropped my daughter off at her second day of school this morning and came straight here,” Hadid told E! during its Live From E! coverage of the show.
She admitted that balancing motherhood with her modelling career had given Fashion Week a completely new meaning.
“So it’s definitely a new version of Fashion Week for me,” Hadid said.

Despite the added responsibilities of motherhood, Hadid said her return to the Tommy Hilfiger runway was a particularly meaningful moment.
The model has shared a long-standing relationship with the designer and described returning to the show as a nostalgic experience.
“To come back to do the Tommy show is so nostalgic and means a lot,” she said.
Hadid also praised Hilfiger’s approach to creating a positive environment around his brand.
“Starting the kindness from the top trickles down,” she said, adding that she believed people could feel that attitude throughout the world created by the designer.
The model said she felt “lucky and proud” to have been part of that journey over the years.
Khai develops her own passion for fashion
Hadid also revealed that Khai has begun to understand more about what her mother does professionally and has developed an interest in fashion and creative activities.
“She definitely understands the job now,” Hadid said.
According to the model, her daughter particularly enjoys Tommy Hilfiger’s shows because of their colourful, energetic and uplifting atmosphere.
“She loves a Tommy show, something that’s uplifting and fun,” Hadid explained.
Hadid added that Khai is highly creative and enjoys activities involving fashion, drawing, colour, fabric and performance.

Khai’s growing interest in fashion has even found its way into playtime at home, where she stages her own miniature runway shows.
Hadid revealed that her daughter enjoys creating her own little catwalk performances but often gives her mother a rather unexpected role.
“She gets into her own little catwalks,” Hadid said before recalling that Khai tells her: “Mom, you be security.”
As a result, the supermodel sometimes finds herself pretending to work as security at the entrance to her daughter’s imaginary fashion shows.
The playful revelation offered a glimpse into how Hadid’s life has evolved alongside her successful modelling career.
While New York Fashion Week continues to bring the glamour of major runway appearances, Hadid’s schedule now begins with the everyday responsibilities of motherhood — including the school run before stepping back onto one of fashion’s biggest stages.
