Today’s fuel prices in Pakistan on September 11, 2026

Pakistan raises petrol and high-speed diesel prices from September 11 amid continued global oil market volatility and the new daily pricing mechanism.

KARACHI, September 11, 2026: The government has announced the latest petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) prices in Pakistan, increasing both rates amid continued fluctuations in international oil markets.

Under the revised rates, petrol has increased by Rs3.05 per litre to Rs370.80, while the price of high-speed diesel has risen by Rs5.37 per litre to Rs398.04.

The revised fuel prices were announced through a notification issued by the Petroleum Division and took effect from September 11, 2026.

Before the latest increase, petrol was priced at Rs367.75 per litre, while HSD was available at Rs392.67 per litre.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has also started publishing daily petroleum prices on its website as part of measures aimed at improving transparency and allowing changes in international oil prices to be passed on to consumers more quickly.

Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said the daily prices are calculated using a seven-day average of international market prices, in line with international practice.

Middle East tensions drive oil market volatility

The latest increase comes amid continued volatility in global oil markets following renewed hostilities in the Middle East.

The government had initially introduced a weekly fuel price review mechanism after the conflict in the Middle East began on February 28, when Israel and the United States attacked Iran.

The subsequent closure of the Strait of Hormuz by Tehran heightened concerns over global energy supplies, as the strategic waterway had previously carried around one-fifth of global energy supplies.

Tensions increased further following the collapse of a fragile June truce between Tehran and Washington, reviving concerns about a broader conflict and potential disruption to energy flows through the Strait.

Petroleum prices in Pakistan were previously revised on a fortnightly basis.

Daily fuel pricing mechanism

An official document has outlined details of the federal cabinet-approved petroleum pricing framework under which OGRA will issue daily ex-depot prices for petrol and HSD.

Under the mechanism, prices will be calculated using the average international market prices recorded during the preceding seven days.

OGRA is authorised to announce daily petroleum prices without obtaining prior approval from the prime minister or the federal government.

However, prices notified on Fridays will remain unchanged on Saturdays and Sundays.

The document also states that OGRA will publish daily Platts reference prices from July 1, 2026.

The petroleum levy will remain subject to the ceiling approved by the federal cabinet, while any change in the levy rate will require approval from the Finance Division.
