Bullion market experts attributed the increase in domestic gold prices to gains in the international market. They said easing tensions in the Middle East had helped support the precious metal.

In the international market, gold prices increased by $59 per ounce to settle at $4,184, up from the previous close of $4,125.

The latest increase in global bullion prices was reflected in Pakistan’s domestic market, pushing local gold rates higher for both per-tola and 10-gram units.

Gold prices in Pakistan generally move in line with international bullion rates and can also be affected by exchange-rate movements and local market conditions.

The association said that the prices of gold in Pakistan have been calculated on the basis of interbank foreign exchange rates issued by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
