Domestic bullion market tracks weaker international gold prices as spot gold falls by $5 per ounce
KARACHI: Gold prices in Pakistan edged lower on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, with the price of the precious metal declining by Rs500 per tola in line with a modest fall in international bullion prices.
According to the All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Association (APGJA), the price of 24-karat gold settled at Rs427,936 per tola, compared with Rs428,436 in the previous trading session.
Similarly, the price of 24-karat gold per 10 grams fell by Rs428 to Rs366,886, down from Rs367,314 a day earlier.
The decline in Pakistan’s gold market followed a slight correction in global bullion prices. In the international market, spot gold eased by $5 per ounce to $4,055, compared with $4,060 in the previous session.
Domestic gold prices generally move in line with international bullion rates while also reflecting fluctuations in the rupee-dollar exchange rate. Changes in global economic conditions, interest rate expectations, geopolitical developments and investor demand for safe-haven assets continue to influence the direction of gold prices worldwide.
Market participants remain closely focused on global economic indicators and geopolitical developments, which could determine the near-term direction of precious metal prices. Investors typically turn to gold during periods of uncertainty, while stronger risk appetite and higher interest rate expectations tend to weigh on bullion prices.
Analysts said the outlook for the bullion market will largely depend on upcoming economic data from major economies, central bank policy signals and movements in the US dollar. Any renewed geopolitical tensions or signs of easing monetary policy could support gold prices, while stronger economic data may limit gains by reducing demand for safe-haven assets.
The latest decline follows recent volatility in both international and domestic gold markets, where prices have witnessed sharp swings in response to changing investor sentiment and global macroeconomic developments.
