Google Bringing Pixel Feature to All Android

Google appears to be preparing a major upgrade for Android smartphones by bringing one of its Pixel-exclusive features to a wider audience.

According to a new report, the company is working on rolling out Magic Cue–style functionality to all Android devices under a new name: Contextual Suggestions.

Originally introduced with the Pixel 10 family, Magic Cue focuses on delivering smart, timely recommendations based on how users interact with their phones.

With Contextual Suggestions, Google aims to extend this experience across the Android ecosystem. As the name suggests, the feature provides helpful prompts from apps and services by learning from a user’s daily routines, habits, and frequently visited locations.

Google explains that Contextual Suggestions can surface recommendations at just the right moment. For example, your music app might suggest a workout playlist when you arrive at the gym if that’s part of your regular routine. Similarly, if you usually cast live sports to your TV on weekend evenings, your phone may prompt you to start casting at the appropriate time. These suggestions are designed to feel natural and useful rather than intrusive.

Privacy is a key focus of the new feature. Google says all data used for Contextual Suggestions is stored in a secure, encrypted space directly on the device. This information is not shared with Google servers or third-party apps, and it never leaves the phone unless the user explicitly chooses to share it. Users can also delete this data at any time, and by default, the system automatically removes it after 60 days.

The AI system powering Contextual Suggestions works entirely on-device. It analyzes activity and location data within the encrypted environment and generates predictions about what actions might be helpful. While apps can access these predictions to offer suggestions, they cannot see the underlying data used to create them, ensuring an added layer of privacy.

Contextual Suggestions has reportedly started appearing for some users running the latest beta version of Google Play Services. However, availability remains limited, indicating that Google is still testing the feature before a broader rollout. Users who gain access can find it under Settings > Google > All services > Others.

If fully launched, Contextual Suggestions could significantly enhance Android’s smart assistance capabilities, bringing Pixel-style intelligence to a much wider range of devices while maintaining strong privacy protections.
