Google has officially announced that its Quick Share feature—Android’s equivalent to Apple’s AirDrop—is now compatible with Apple devices.
This marks a major step toward cross-platform file sharing, allowing users to move photos, videos and documents between iPhones and Androids more conveniently than ever before. However, there is one important limitation: the feature currently works only on Google’s latest Pixel 10 series.
Quick Share has long served Android users as a fast and wireless way to share files across devices. With this new update, owners of Pixel 10 smartphones can now send and receive content directly from Apple devices using the same Quick Share interface they already know. Although the compatibility is restricted for now, Google is expected to expand support to additional Android devices in the coming months or years.
Using the feature is extremely simple. To share files from a Pixel 10 to an iPhone, users can initiate Quick Share just as they would when sending content to another Android device. Apple users on the receiving end can also share back to Pixel 10 phones using their native sharing tools. Google says the experience is designed to be smooth and effortless, functioning with the familiar “just works” approach.
This new compatibility could significantly improve convenience for users who frequently switch between ecosystems or interact with friends and colleagues who use different platforms. The initial exclusivity to Pixel 10 devices suggests Google is testing and refining the feature before rolling it out to a broader range of Android smartphones.
As cross-platform sharing becomes increasingly important, Google’s move signals a shift toward more flexible and user-friendly connectivity options. More devices are expected to gain access in the future, but for now, Pixel 10 users get the first glimpse of seamless sharing between Android and iOS.
