Google has announced major updates to its AI Mode in Search, bringing smarter, more personalized features to users worldwide.
The company revealed that AI Mode is now available in 180 additional countries and territories, though the functionality remains limited to English for now. Notably, EU nations are excluded from this rollout.
One of the most exciting updates is the introduction of agentic capabilities, which allow AI Mode to go beyond generating answers and instead help users take action. Starting today, Google Search can assist with restaurant reservations, with further expansions planned for local service appointments and event ticket bookings in the near future.
With this upgrade, users can request reservations by specifying multiple preferences such as party size, date, time, location, and preferred cuisine. AI Mode will then scan multiple platforms in real time, compiling a curated list of restaurants with available tables that match the criteria. Once users select a restaurant, they are directed to the booking page for a seamless reservation process.
To make this possible, Google is working with leading partners such as OpenTable, Resy, Tock, Ticketmaster, StubHub, SeatGeek, Booksy, and many more. Currently, this enhanced experience is offered through the “Agentic capabilities in AI Mode” experiment within Google Search Labs for subscribers to Google AI Ultra in the US.
For US-based users enrolled in the AI Mode experiment, dining-related searches are becoming more personalized and context-aware. For instance, if you ask for a quick lunch spot, Google’s AI Mode considers your prior searches, previous dining queries, and activity in Search and Maps to suggest restaurants that best align with your preferences.
Additionally, Google has introduced a new Share feature within AI Mode in the US. With just a tap, users can share search results and curated lists with friends or family. This functionality is especially useful for collaborative planning, such as organizing trips, group dinners, or birthday parties. Users also have full control to delete shared links at any time.
With these improvements, Google is positioning AI Mode as a powerful assistant that not only provides answers but also helps users take meaningful actions directly from Search.
