Google has officially introduced Gemini 3.5, its latest generation of artificial intelligence models, during the company’s annual I/O developer conference. Alongside the new AI family, Google also launched Gemini Omni, a powerful model capable of generating videos from multiple types of input.
The announcement highlights Google’s continued push to strengthen its AI ecosystem with faster, smarter, and more interactive tools for consumers and developers worldwide.
Gemini 3.5 Flash Becomes Default AI Model
The first model released in the Gemini 3.5 lineup is Gemini 3.5 Flash. Google confirmed that the model is now available for all users through the Gemini app and AI Mode in Google Search.
According to the company, Gemini 3.5 Flash delivers flagship-level intelligence while maintaining the speed and efficiency associated with the Flash series. Google claims the model outperforms Gemini 3.1 Pro in coding, reasoning, and agentic AI benchmarks.
The company also stated that Gemini 3.5 Flash leads in multimodal understanding, allowing it to process and understand text, images, audio, and video more effectively. Due to its improved capabilities, Google has now made Gemini 3.5 Flash the default AI model for users.
Gemini Omni Brings AI Video Creation
Google also introduced Gemini Omni, a new AI model family designed for video generation. The technology allows users to create videos using text, images, audio, or existing video clips as inputs.
The first release in the lineup, Gemini Omni Flash, can edit specific parts of a video or completely transform scenes while maintaining consistency throughout the content. Users can refine videos through conversational prompts without losing the original context.
Google said the model has a stronger understanding of real-world physics concepts such as gravity, kinetic energy, and fluid dynamics. This helps the AI generate more realistic video scenes and movements.
AI Avatars and Voice Features Added
Gemini Omni also supports AI-generated avatars and custom voice integration, enabling users to create digital versions of themselves for videos. Google confirmed that all AI-generated videos include SynthID digital watermarking for transparency and authenticity.
Gemini Omni Flash is now available globally for subscribers of Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra plans through the Gemini app and Google Flow. The feature is also rolling out for free to users on YouTube Shorts and YouTube Create.
