Google has shared a comprehensive set of tools, technologies, and educational initiatives aimed at helping students, parents, and educators in Pakistan stay safe in the rapidly evolving AI era.

Announced in Karachi on February 12, 2026, the initiative comes as part of Safer Internet Month, reinforcing Google’s commitment to online safety and responsible AI use.

As artificial intelligence becomes more integrated into education and daily life, Google emphasized the importance of building strong digital safeguards. The company highlighted that its products — including YouTube, Google Search, and the Android ecosystem — are “secure by default” and “private by design,” ensuring built-in protections for users.

Farhan Qureshi, Google’s Cluster Director for Pakistan, the Philippines, Thailand, and Frontier Markets, said protecting children and families online remains a core priority. He noted that Google is working closely with local stakeholders to promote a safer digital environment for future generations.

Norman Ng, Head of Trust and Safety at Google APAC, added that responsible access to AI can unlock powerful opportunities for creativity, learning, and growth — provided the right guardrails are in place. He stressed the importance of equipping families with practical knowledge and tools to confidently navigate technology.

Among the key safety features highlighted are SafeSearch, which is automatically enabled for children, and Family Link, which allows parents to manage screen time, approve app downloads, and apply content filters. AI-powered tools such as Google Lens and Circle to Search can also help users identify suspicious links and potential scams in real time.

To address the growing challenge of distinguishing between human-created and AI-generated content, Google recommends the “SIFT” method — Stop, Investigate the source, Find better coverage, and Trace claims. Tools like “About this image” in Search and SynthID further help users detect manipulated images, deepfakes, and AI-generated text.

In addition, Google is investing in AI literacy through initiatives such as the Gemini app, Experience AI, and Be Internet Awesome, empowering Pakistan’s youth to thrive safely in an AI-driven digital world.
