The mass rollout of Android 15 has officially begun, with Google’s Pixel phones taking the lead in receiving the update.
Starting with the Pixel 6 series and newer models, users can now enjoy the latest features and security improvements that come with Android 15. Google has also shared a detailed blog post highlighting the key updates in this release.
Here is the list of Pixel devices supported by Android 15:
Pixel 6, 6 Pro, 6a
Pixel 7, 7 Pro, 7a
Pixel Tablet, Fold
Pixel 8, 8 Pro, 8a
Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, 9 Pro Fold
One of the major additions in Android 15 is Private Space, which provides an extra layer of security for sensitive apps. Apps placed in Private Space are separated from the rest of the apps on your device and will not appear in the app drawer, recent apps, or notifications, ensuring privacy and security.
Another significant improvement is the optimization for tablets and foldable phones. Android 15 introduces a feature to pin the taskbar, allowing users to quickly access their most-used apps. Users can also unpin the taskbar easily using a toggle option.
A standout security feature in Android 15 is the Theft Detection Lock, which is also being rolled out to devices running Android 10 and newer versions. This feature automatically locks your phone if it detects suspicious motions, such as a sudden swipe and run, preventing unauthorized access to your personal information.
Additionally, the Remote Lock feature allows users to lock their phone from another device using their phone number, even when Find My Devices is turned off.
In conjunction with the Android 15 update, Google also announced the October Pixel feature drop, bringing improved Night Sight, Astrophotography modes, and underwater photography for Pixel 8 and newer phones.
New features include Audio Magic Eraser to isolate sounds during video recordings, a pollen tracker in the Pixel Weather app, and a thermometer app for the Pixel 8 Pro.
