Google’s innovative Circle to Search feature, introduced earlier this year, is now accessible on three Nothing smartphone models: the Nothing Phone (2), Nothing Phone (2a), and Nothing Phone (2a) Plus.
This addition enhances search convenience for Nothing users, leveraging seamless gestures for quick access.
How to Use Circle to Search
Owners of these Nothing smartphones can activate Circle to Search by long-pressing the Home button if using 3-button navigation or by long-pressing the navigation bar for gesture-based navigation. Users can configure the feature by navigating to Settings > Special features > Gestures > Navigation mode > Circle to Search.
Compatibility and Updates
For the feature to function, specific software builds are required. The Nothing Phone (2) must run Nothing OS 3.0 with build number Pong-V3.0-241207-0124, while the Nothing Phone (2a) requires Pacman-V3.0-241210-2057.
Both devices have already received the stable Nothing OS 3.0 update, built on Android 15. However, the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus is still in beta testing. The Circle to Search feature is currently available on beta build PacmanPro-V3.0-241126-1448, with the stable update promised for early 2025.
Troubleshooting Tips
If Circle to Search doesn’t work on your Nothing Phone, ensure your device is updated to the specified build. Rebooting the device after updating may resolve issues. For users with the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus, access is limited to beta builds until the stable release.
Future Updates
Nothing has confirmed that other models, including the Phone (2a) sold in Japan, will receive Circle to Search support after upgrading to upcoming Nothing OS 3.0 builds.
