Government using all resources to manage crisis: Aurangzeb

Muhammad Aurangzeb

Islamabad, April 6, 2026 – Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb on Monday said the government is utilizing all available resources to effectively manage the ongoing economic and regional challenges facing Pakistan.

Addressing the National Assembly, Aurangzeb highlighted the government’s proactive response to the evolving regional situation. He revealed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had constituted a high-level committee over the weekend to monitor and manage any critical developments.

The committee includes key cabinet members such as ministers for petroleum, commerce, maritime affairs, and national food security, along with the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan. According to the finance minister, this coordinated approach reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring stability during uncertain times.

Aurangzeb noted that the government has been holding daily review meetings since early March to closely monitor fuel supplies, pricing trends, logistics, and global market conditions. “We initiated daily stock-taking meetings to assess supply levels, pricing patterns, and logistical challenges,” he said.

He also emphasized the role of the petroleum ministry in coordinating efforts to maintain supply chains and avoid disruptions. The minister added that diplomatic engagement has been intensified, with Pakistan actively coordinating with other countries to secure stable supply lines and manage external pressures.

The finance minister said the government has now entered its fifth consecutive week of continuous monitoring, with top leadership personally overseeing developments. Both the prime minister and the deputy prime minister are directly involved through dedicated committees to ensure swift decision-making.

Aurangzeb reiterated that the government remains fully committed to protecting the economy and safeguarding public interests, adding that all necessary measures will continue to be taken to navigate the ongoing crisis effectively.
