Gracie Abrams Shuts Out Online Negativity: “It’s Just Noise”

Gracie Abrams is proving that sometimes silence really is golden. In her new Billboard cover story published on April 17, the 25-year-old singer-songwriter opened up about how she navigates the chaos of online culture — and why staying grounded is more important to her than chasing trends or clapping back at haters.

Gracie Abrams made it clear that she’s not giving internet trolls any of her energy. “I can know that 10 people a day are having that conversation on Twitter — that’s cool for them,” she told Billboard with a shrug. “I’m just going to mind my own business, really.” That mindset, according to Gracie, has helped her stay creative, clear-headed, and focused on what actually matters.

Whenever Gracie Abrams has caught herself diving too deep into online comments, she said it’s left her drained — creatively and emotionally. “I’m less present in my own life, less available to the people I know and love,” she admitted. “It’s not good for me as a person. It’s not good for the art I want to make.”

Her strategy now? Out of sight, out of mind. She finds internet negativity not only irrelevant but, in her words, “boring as hell.” For Gracie Abrams, if she doesn’t see the criticism, it simply “doesn’t exist.”

The That’s So True artist also reflected on her time touring with Taylor Swift during the Eras Tour — a career milestone that brought more than just stage experience. Watching Swift handle an intense level of public scrutiny gave Gracie some much-needed perspective. “It’s like, I really don’t have it that bad in terms of invasion of privacy,” Abrams said. “One of the biggest things I learned from her was just seeing how extreme it can really get.”

Despite growing public interest in her personal and romantic life, Gracie Abrams remains unbothered. “Letting that noise affect your actual happiness? That would be so unfortunate,” she said.

In a digital age where clout often overshadows authenticity, Gracie Abrams is staying true to herself. She’s not feeding the trolls, not playing the game — and that quiet confidence is exactly what makes her voice so powerful, both on and off the stage.
