The latest GTA 6 community map update adds roads, buildings and other details while revising the estimated size of Leonida.
GTA 6 fans continue to map out the fictional state of Leonida, with Version 16 of the community-created map adding more roads, buildings and geographical details based on newly available information.
The mapping team says the latest version draws on several sources, including an alleged map leak from August 18 and footage from Rockstar Games’ Extended Look. The project remains unofficial and is being updated by the community as new information becomes available.
GTA 6 Map Gets More Detailed
According to Reddit user u/poorna_sus14, Version 16 introduces changes to Leonida’s coastlines, beaches, urban areas and county boundaries.
The team has also added roads and buildings across several locations, including Vice City, Key Lento, Hamlet, Capri and Ambrosia.
The elevation map has received an update as well, with additional camera positions, parking areas and industrial zones. Vice City and surrounding areas have been given further attention, including more detailed buildings, new alleys, helipads and additional road connections.
Fans can explore interactive versions of the community map through GTADB and State of Leonida, allowing users to zoom into individual locations and streets.
Leonida Map Size Revised
One of the most notable changes in Version 16 is the revised scale. The community map now uses a 1-by-1 kilometre grid, with overall dimensions estimated at roughly 21 by 20 kilometres.
However, that does not mean the playable GTA 6 world covers 420 square kilometres. Much of the area represented by those dimensions consists of water or land outside the reconstructed map.
The community project currently estimates Leonida’s land area at around 85.6 square kilometres, down from nearly 110 square kilometres in Version 15. The lower figure follows revisions to the map’s scale and shape using newer information.
GTA 6 Map Still Larger Than GTA 5
Despite the reduction in the community estimate, the reconstructed GTA 6 map remains considerably larger than GTA 5’s land area, which community mapping projects estimate at just under 50 square kilometres.
The Version 16 map is not an official Rockstar release, so its dimensions and individual locations may change as more information becomes available and after the game launches.
