GTA 6 PC release reportedly planned for early 2027

Rockstar Games could release Grand Theft Auto 6 on PC in the first quarter of 2027, according to a report citing four industry sources, potentially giving PC players a shorter wait than they faced with GTA 5.

Rockstar Games is reportedly planning to launch the PC version of Grand Theft Auto 6 in early 2027, according to GamesBeat, which cited four industry sources familiar with the studio’s plans.

If accurate, the reported timeline would mean PC players could get the highly anticipated game within a few months of its planned console release on November 19, 2026.

However, Rockstar has not officially announced a PC version or confirmed the reported release window. The studio did not respond to requests for comment, according to the report, and the information should therefore be treated as unconfirmed.

GTA 6 Could Arrive on PC Sooner Than GTA 5

A PC release in the first three months of 2027 would represent a considerably shorter wait than the one experienced by players of Grand Theft Auto 5.

The game launched on consoles in September 2013 but did not arrive on PC until April 2015, leaving computer players waiting approximately 19 months. Red Dead Redemption 2 also received its PC release after its initial console launch.

The four sources cited by GamesBeat reportedly requested anonymity to avoid damaging business relationships. As with any unconfirmed release plan, the timeline could change as development continues.

PC Performance Remains a Key Question

The timing of a PC version has attracted attention partly because of questions surrounding the console edition’s performance.

GTA 6 appears set to run at 30 frames per second on consoles, while Rockstar has not announced a performance mode. A PC release could give players more flexibility to pursue higher frame rates, depending on the game’s eventual system requirements, optimisation and available hardware.

However, Rockstar has yet to disclose PC-specific technical details, so performance expectations remain speculative.

Console Release Scheduled for November

Rockstar currently plans to release Grand Theft Auto 6 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026.

For PC players, the reported first-quarter 2027 window would offer the possibility of playing the game sooner than expected. Until Rockstar confirms its plans, however, the PC release date remains a rumour rather than an official launch commitment.
