GWM Pakistan discontinues ORA 03 electric hatchback amid low sales

The ORA 03 has disappeared from GWM Pakistan’s official lineup and booking portal, signaling its exit from the local EV market.

GWM Pakistan appears to have discontinued the ORA 03 electric hatchback from the local market, following its removal from the company’s official vehicle lineup and booking platform.

Although GWM Pakistan has not issued a formal announcement regarding the model’s discontinuation, the ORA 03 is no longer listed among the vehicles available for customers in Pakistan. Its absence from the booking system further indicates that the electric hatchback has effectively exited the Pakistani market.

ORA 03 Launched in Pakistan in 2024

The ORA 03 was introduced in Pakistan in 2024 as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) by Sazgar Engineering Works Limited, which represents GWM in the country.

At the time of its launch, the electric hatchback was positioned as a premium urban EV, with a price tag of Rs8.999 million. The model was expected to attract buyers looking for a compact electric vehicle with modern styling and zero-emission driving.

However, the ORA 03 appears to have struggled to establish a strong presence in Pakistan’s rapidly developing electric vehicle market.

GWM Shifts Focus to ORA 05 and ORA 07

With the ORA 03 no longer available, Sazgar has shifted its focus toward newer and more premium electric vehicles under the ORA brand.

The company has officially introduced the ORA 05 Electric SUV and the high-performance ORA 07 Electric Sedan, which are now positioned as key electric vehicle offerings in its lineup.

The move suggests that GWM Pakistan is looking to target segments with stronger growth potential while expanding its premium EV portfolio.

Why Was the ORA 03 Discontinued?

GWM Pakistan has not disclosed any specific reason for discontinuing the ORA 03. However, several market factors may have contributed to the decision.

Low sales could be one of the major factors, as the vehicle faced challenges in attracting buyers at its relatively high price.

Limited expectations regarding resale value may have also discouraged potential customers, while Pakistan’s still-developing EV charging infrastructure remains another challenge for electric vehicle adoption.

The ORA 03’s departure highlights the difficulties automakers face when introducing premium electric vehicles in a market where EV infrastructure, pricing and resale concerns continue to influence consumer decisions.
