Great Wall Motors (GWM) is all set to bring another powerful SUV to the Pakistani market — the Tank 500 PHEV. After introducing the Tank 500 HEV, GWM is now expanding its lineup with this plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), aiming to further strengthen its position in Pakistan’s evolving auto landscape.
The arrival of the Tank 500 PHEV comes at a time when the local market is seeing a rapid shift towards hybrid and electric vehicles. With several PHEVs and EVs like the MG ES5, MI LS6, and Jaecoo J5 expected soon, GWM’s latest move reflects the growing demand for advanced, fuel-efficient SUVs.
In addition to the Tank series, GWM also plans to launch the Poer Cannon Alpha PHEV pickup truck, expected to compete head-to-head with BYD’s upcoming Shark 6. Clearly, GWM is making a bold statement by offering diverse hybrid options, and the Tank 500 PHEV is a key part of that strategy.

The Tank 500 PHEV is powered by a 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine producing 180 kW and 380 Nm. Combined with an electric motor that adds 120 kW and 400 Nm, the SUV delivers a total output of 402 hp and 750 Nm of torque. It comes equipped with a 9-speed hybrid automatic transmission and 4WD, reaching 0–100 km/h in just 9 seconds.
With a 1 kWh lithium-ion battery, the vehicle offers an electric-only range of up to 110 km (WLTC). Fuel consumption is rated at just 6.6 L/100km, with a 70-liter fuel tank to support long-distance travel.
