Hamza Khan to Represent Pakistan at WSF World Junior Squash Championships

Pakistan’s rising star in the world of squash, Hamza Khan, is all set to showcase his talent as he prepares to compete in the 2023 WSF World Junior Squash Championships.

The official confirmation of the draws and seedings has generated much excitement for this highly anticipated tournament, scheduled to take place from July 18 to 29 at the Melbourne Sports Centres (MSAC).

With a total of 245 entries across the men’s and women’s individual championships, as well as the women’s team championship, the event promises a thrilling display of skill and intense competition.

The men’s draw is expected to feature a captivating rematch between Jonah Bryant from England and Rowan Damming from the Netherlands in the final. As the top two seeds, the 17-year-old English player and the 18-year-old Dutch player are poised to reignite their rivalry in what is sure to be an exciting showdown.

However, all eyes are also on the talented 15-year-old Egyptian prodigy, Mohamed Zakaria, as well as Pakistan’s very own Hamza Khan, who returns to the championship after an impressive semifinal finish in the previous edition.

The 2023 WSF World Junior Squash Championships are eagerly awaited by squash enthusiasts and fans worldwide, as young players from across the globe gather in Melbourne to compete for the prestigious title. The Melbourne Sports Centres will witness exceptional athleticism and skill, captivating spectators throughout the tournament.

Local fans will have plenty to cheer for as six Australian male players enter the competition in the first round. Kenneth Lamb, Dylan Classen, Harvey Allan, Connor Hayes, Oscar Curtis, and Thomas Scott will showcase their abilities in the initial stages of the tournament.

In the women’s draw, Egypt’s Amina Orfi, the reigning champion, is determined to defend her crown. As the top seed, Orfi has gained recognition this season with outstanding performances on the PSA World Tour.

Joining her among the top four seeds are the talented Malak Khafagy from Egypt and Asian Junior Champion Aira Azman from Malaysia. Azman aims to become Malaysia’s first female champion since Nicol David’s victory over Omneya Abdel Kawy in 2001.

Similarly, Australia is well-represented in the women’s draw, with six talented players participating in the individual event.
