England captain expected to begin negotiations over a new Bayern deal as his current contract enters its final year.

Harry Kane is preparing to begin negotiations with Bayern Munich over a possible contract extension, with the England captain entering the final year of his existing agreement with the Bundesliga giants.

The striker revealed that discussions over a new deal had been postponed until after his post-World Cup break. However, he expects both sides to sit down for negotiations within the coming days as Bayern look to secure his long-term future.

Kane indicated that talks could begin either this week or next week. He also suggested that there is no tension between the two parties, with both the player and club remaining relaxed about the situation despite his current contract running until 2027.

The England international joined Bayern Munich from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023 on a four-year contract. Since moving to Germany, Kane has established himself as one of the club’s most prolific attacking players.

He has already collected two Bundesliga titles and a German Cup with Bayern, while also helping the club reach the Champions League semi-finals in two of his three seasons. His individual record has been particularly impressive, with Kane scoring 146 goals in 147 appearances across all competitions.

Bayern have consistently expressed their desire to retain the 33-year-old forward. Club officials have previously described Kane as one of the best signings in the club’s history, underlining his importance to their long-term plans.

Reports in Germany suggest that a potential new agreement could keep Kane at Bayern until at least 2029, although negotiations are yet to formally begin.

Kane’s outstanding performances have also strengthened his claims for the Ballon d’Or. German football legend Lothar Matthaeus recently backed the striker for the prestigious individual award after a remarkable campaign in which he scored 61 goals in 51 matches.

Bayern will next face Borussia Dortmund in the season-opening Supercup on Saturday, giving Kane an early opportunity to continue his impressive scoring form.
