Global pop icon Harry Styles has revealed how running became his unexpected escape from the overwhelming realities of international fame.
In a candid cover story for Runner’s World published on March 3, the 31-year-old singer and marathon enthusiast shared how pounding the pavement allows him to stay grounded — and sometimes, unnoticed.
“The main thing is that you’re always moving. You can turn a corner wherever,” Styles explained. “I think with people who see me, it’s a bit more, ‘Was that…’ rather than, ‘Oh look, it’s him!’ And by that time, you’re already gone.”
From One Direction to Marathon Routes
The former One Direction star has embraced long-distance running in recent years, even participating in major international marathons, including races in Tokyo and Berlin. For Styles, the sport offers more than physical fitness — it provides clarity.
“When I’m running is when I have time to think a lot about what I’m making and other things in my life too,” he said.
Fame, Isolation, and Finding Balance
Styles also admitted that fame once pushed him into isolation. At one point, he began declining nearly every invitation, questioning whether he was protecting himself or simply hiding within his comfort zone.
“When you close yourself off to protect yourself from people who might bring negativity into your life, you’re also missing out on positive experiences,” he reflected.
Musical Comeback with New Album
After maintaining a relatively low profile for three years, Harry Styles is now preparing for a major musical return. His upcoming album, Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally, is set for release on March 6, marking a new chapter in his evolving career.
As fans eagerly await his comeback, it seems that between marathon miles and musical milestones, Styles has found a rhythm that keeps both his body and creativity in motion.
