CEO Faizullah Dahiri directs officials to curb electricity theft, monitor zero-load-shedding feeders and improve consumer services.
Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) has stepped up efforts to control electricity line losses and improve services for consumers, with senior officials reviewing measures during a meeting held on Saturday.
The meeting was chaired by HESCO Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Faizullah Dahiri at his office and was attended by Chief Operating Officer Aijaz Ahmed Shaikh, Chief Commercial Officer K Mukhtiar and other senior officers.
Officials discussed strategies to reduce line losses and strengthen monitoring of feeders that have been exempted from scheduled load shedding. The meeting also reviewed the performance of feeders operating under the zero-load-shedding arrangement.
68 Feeders Exempted From Load Shedding
During the meeting, CEO Faizullah Dahiri noted that 68 feeders had been declared exempt from load shedding during the previous financial year, which concluded on June 30.
The CEO stressed that maintaining uninterrupted electricity supply to these feeders required effective monitoring and stronger action against factors contributing to network losses.
He also emphasized the importance of restoring consumer confidence by ensuring better electricity services and addressing complaints without unnecessary delays.
Daily Public Hearings Ordered
Dahiri directed HESCO officials to hold public hearings at all subdivisions every day between 11am and 1pm. The initiative is aimed at giving consumers a dedicated platform to register complaints and highlight electricity-related issues.
Officials were instructed to listen to consumer concerns and work toward their timely resolution. The move is expected to improve communication between HESCO and its customers while providing greater accountability at the subdivision level.
Crackdown on Electricity Theft
The HESCO chief also called for continued and indiscriminate action against electricity theft, identifying it as a key factor behind rising line losses.
He directed officers to maintain strict enforcement against those involved in power theft and ensure that efforts to reduce losses remain consistent across the company’s service areas.
Dahiri further instructed officials to adopt a consumer-friendly approach while carrying out operational and enforcement activities. The directions are part of broader efforts to improve service delivery, reduce electricity losses and strengthen public confidence in HESCO.
