Islamabad, October 2, 2025 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted a strong chance of rain in Islamabad on Friday, October 3, as weather systems from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea continue to affect the region.
According to the PMD, the latest forecast suggests that Islamabad may experience partly cloudy weather on Thursday night with isolated rain, wind, and thunderstorms, with a probability of around 45 percent. On Friday, conditions are expected to intensify with a 55 percent chance of rain, accompanied by thunder and gusty winds in Islamabad and surrounding areas.
At the national level, the PMD has issued a warning of windstorms and lightning during the forecast period. These conditions could damage vulnerable structures, including the roofs and walls of mud houses, electricity poles, billboards, solar panels, and vehicles, particularly in lower Sindh.
The department explained that a well-marked low-pressure system has developed over the Gulf of Kutch, allowing moist currents to enter Sindh. In addition, moist currents from the Bay of Bengal are expected to penetrate into the upper parts of the country, contributing to increased rainfall chances in central and northern regions.
For Thursday, hot and dry conditions are likely across most of Pakistan. However, scattered showers with thunderstorms are expected in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, lower Sindh, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Some areas of lower Sindh may also receive heavy downpours.
For Friday, similar hot and dry conditions will persist nationwide, but isolated rain with thunderstorms is likely in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, northeastern Punjab, Potohar region, lower Sindh, and Islamabad.
During the past 24 hours, dry weather dominated much of the country, though sporadic rainfall was reported in Dir, Saidu Sharif, Dadu, and Kakul. Turbat and Lasbella recorded the highest temperatures at 41°C, while Bhakkar followed closely at 40°C.
