High probability of thunderstorms in Islamabad on Friday

Islamabad, August 28, 2025 – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast a 55% probability of thunderstorms in Islamabad on Friday, August 29, 2025, as weather conditions continue to fluctuate across the country.

According to the PMD, Islamabad will experience partly cloudy and humid weather during the day, followed by possible isolated rain-wind and thunderstorms in the evening and night hours. On Thursday, hot and humid conditions are expected to persist in Islamabad, with a 30% chance of light rain or thundershowers at night.

A seasonal low-pressure area lies over north Balochistan, while monsoon currents are actively penetrating from the Bay of Bengal into northeast Punjab and Kashmir. Additionally, a westerly wave is likely to impact the upper parts of the country from Thursday night, contributing to unstable weather patterns.

Weather remained hot and humid across most areas. However, isolated rain-wind/thundershowers occurred in parts of Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Kashmir. Rainfall included Narowal (29 mm), Sialkot (City 08 mm, Airport 01 mm), Mangla 02 mm, Jhelum 02 mm, Faisalabad 01 mm, and Malam Jabba 09 mm.
