Lauderhill, August 3, 2025 – West Indies pulled off a nail-biting win in the second T20I against Pakistan, levelling the series 1-1 in dramatic fashion at Central Broward Park & Broward County Stadium.

Jason Holder emerged as the match-winner with an exceptional four-wicket haul and a composed finish with the bat, helping his side chase down a modest target with just two wickets in hand.

The match proved to be a rollercoaster, filled with twists until the very last ball. After opting to bat, Pakistan found it difficult to gain momentum. Despite a fighting 60-run partnership between captain Salman Agha and young Hasan Nawaz, Pakistan could only post a below-par total. Holder led the charge with the ball for West Indies, claiming four crucial wickets to become the nation’s leading wicket-taker in T20Is, surpassing Dwayne Bravo. Support came from Gudakesh Motie, who bagged two, while Hosein, Joseph, and Chase chipped in with one each to stifle Pakistan’s batting.

In response, the West Indies T20I innings got off to a shaky start, losing both openers inside the Powerplay. Pakistan’s spinners kept a tight grip, with Mohammad Nawaz and others sharing six wickets, threatening to steal a win with a disciplined bowling performance. Shai Hope and Roston Chase tried to steady things but failed to convert starts into a lasting stand.

However, late fireworks from Motie and Romario Shepherd reignited the West Indies’ chase. The pressure remained high until the final over, where Holder showcased nerves of steel, guiding his side home with a boundary off the last ball.

With this result, the T20I series is now finely poised, and Pakistan will look to bounce back in the third and final match scheduled for August 4. Despite the loss, the Pakistani team can take heart from their fighting spirit and sharp bowling attack.

Skipper Salman Agha expressed pride in his bowlers and fielders, noting that defending such a low score and stretching the game to the wire was commendable. On the other hand, West Indies captain Shai Hope credited the bowlers and acknowledged the team’s hard work in adapting to challenging conditions.

Jason Holder, named Player of the Match, emphasized the importance of consistency and expressed hope that this win would boost the team’s morale ahead of the deciding T20I against Pakistan.
