The Honor Magic V5 has officially set the record for the heaviest weight lifted by a suspended foldable smartphone. In an extraordinary demonstration, the phone successfully lifted 104 kilograms, showcasing the strength of its cutting-edge hinge design.
For the test, an 84kg refrigerator and 20kg of weighted plates were strapped to the phone using a cloth band attached to its central hinge. Despite the immense load, the Magic V5 held strong, setting a benchmark in foldable durability.
At the heart of this achievement lies Honor’s Super Steel Hinge, engineered to withstand up to 500,000 folds without compromise. According to the company, the hinge boasts a tensile strength of 2300 MPa, reinforcing the smartphone’s claim as one of the toughest foldables available today.
Beyond its durability, the Honor Magic V5 packs flagship-level hardware. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, delivering top-tier performance for gaming, multitasking, and productivity. The foldable features a 7.95-inch flexible AMOLED Full HD+ display on the inside, paired with a 6.43-inch AMOLED outer screen, offering a seamless experience whether folded or unfolded.
For power, the global variant includes a 5,820 mAh battery, ensuring long-lasting usage on a single charge. The device also comes equipped with a triple rear camera system, highlighted by a 64 MP periscope telephoto lens, designed to capture detailed shots with advanced zoom capabilities. Despite its strong build, the Magic V5 maintains a slim profile at 8.8mm thickness when folded and weighs just 217 grams.
