Honor is gearing up for one of its most ambitious smartphone releases yet, as new reports suggest the company will mass-produce the highly anticipated Honor Robot Phone in the first half of next year.
While the brand is holding its official unveiling for MWC 2026, scheduled for March, fresh leaks indicate that production plans are already underway for this futuristic device.
According to reputable Weibo leakster SmartPikachu, the Robot Phone isn’t just a concept or one-off prototype—it is a real product intended for commercial sale. Although Honor has not confirmed whether it will debut globally or remain exclusive to the Chinese market, the company appears committed to turning this bold design into a retail-ready smartphone.
The standout feature of the Honor Robot Phone is its mechanical flip-up gimbal camera, which functions like a miniature robotic head. Unlike traditional pop-up modules or enhanced OIS systems, this camera resembles the style of DJI Osmo Pocket gimbals, offering improved stability and flexibility. It can rise from the back of the device, rotate, and capture footage hands-free—perfect for vlogging, recording POV shots, or documenting adventures while mounted on a bike or car.
A teaser video shared earlier highlights its versatility, showing how users can simply place the device in a shirt pocket and vlog naturally. But the innovation doesn’t stop at hardware.
Honor is equipping the Robot Phone with an AI-powered image recognition model capable of detecting human emotions. Combined with the camera’s ability to physically turn, the device will interact in a way that feels much closer to cinematic AI companions rather than typical smartphone assistants. This adds a layer of personality and responsiveness never before seen in mainstream phones.
Of course, questions remain about durability and practicality, as the mechanism is more complex than previous pop-up camera designs. Still, the concept has generated immense curiosity among tech enthusiasts, who appreciate Honor’s willingness to push boundaries.
While an official launch date has not been announced, leaks suggest the Honor Robot Phone could debut in August, making it one of the most talked-about smartphones of 2026.
