At Google Cloud Next 2025, Honor took center stage by unveiling its latest suite of AI-powered tools, signaling its bold new vision for the future of intelligent devices.
As part of its $10 billion Alpha Plan, Honor is committed to transforming itself into a global leader in AI ecosystems over the next five years — and its deepening partnership with Google is a critical part of that mission.
The announcement highlighted several groundbreaking innovations powered by Google’s advanced AI models. One of the most impressive is AI Outpainting, a feature integrated into Honor’s new AiMAGE suite. With the help of Google’s Imagen model, AI Outpainting allows users to reframe photos — zooming out or rotating them — without worrying about losing detail. When gaps appear beyond the photo’s original edges, the tool uses generative AI to seamlessly fill in those areas, essentially expanding the scene while maintaining realism and context.
According to Eric Fang, Senior Director of Product Planning at Honor, the technology is capable of doubling image size and works especially well in complex scenes such as cityscapes and nature shots. “With Google’s Imagen model, we’re enabling users to create more immersive and dynamic photos — not just snapshots, but storytelling tools,” Fang stated.
Alongside AI Outpainting, Honor also introduced AI Eraser, which allows users to effortlessly remove unwanted objects from photos. Powered again by Google’s inpainting technology, the tool fills in the removed space with visually consistent content, ensuring a flawless final image.
These features are now available on the recently launched Honor 400 Lite in Europe, which also supports AI Upscale for improving image resolution. Honor emphasized that its goal is to bring advanced AI to everyday users, and its ongoing collaboration with Google is making that possible.
Looking ahead, Honor and Google are working on even more features. A video generation tool powered by Google’s Veo model is in development, and new devices coming next month will feature AI tools based on Google’s Gemini model to boost productivity.
With Honor and Google working hand-in-hand, the future of AI-powered creativity looks brighter than ever.
