Honor has officially launched the Magic V3, the eagerly anticipated successor to last year’s Magic V2. The Magic V2 made headlines as the thinnest foldable device on the market, boasting a folded thickness of 9.9mm and an unfolded thickness of 4.7mm.
This year, Honor has outdone itself with the Magic V3, which features a slimmer and lighter design alongside comprehensive upgrades.
The Magic V3 measures just 9.2mm when folded (excluding the camera bump) and unfolds to a mere 4.35mm thickness, revealing a 7.92-inch main screen. This slim profile is achieved through an advanced hinge mechanism, only 2.84mm thick, rated to withstand 500,000 folds. The frame, crafted from 7-series aluminum alloy, enhances the device’s durability.
Weighing in at just 226 grams, the Magic V3 is 13 grams lighter than the newly released Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6, making it comparable in weight to traditional bar phones like the Magic6 Pro. A standout feature this year is the IPX8 water resistance rating, marking a first for Honor foldables.
The Magic V3’s cover screen is a 6.43-inch LTPO display with FHD+ resolution, offering a 1-120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 2,500 nits. The 20:9 aspect ratio facilitates ease of use and typing, while stylus input compatibility adds to its versatility.
The main display is also an LTPO OLED, measuring 7.92 inches with FHD+ resolution, a 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 1,800 nits. Additionally, the device includes a side-mounted ultra-narrow capacitive fingerprint sensor from Goodix for rapid fingerprint enrollment.
Under the hood, the Magic V3 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, configurable with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB UFS 4.0 storage. Despite its slim build, the device houses an enhanced vapor chamber (VC) cooling system compared to its predecessor.
Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the triple-camera setup on the back, featuring a 50MP main shooter with OIS (f/1.6 aperture), a 50MP periscope with 3.5x optical zoom (f/3.0), and a 40MP ultrawide lens (f/2.2). Both the cover and main screens have 20MP front-facing cameras. The Magic V3 also supports Harcourt portrait mode, set to be available in August.
The device runs on MagicOS 8.0.1, based on Android 14, incorporating numerous AI features, including circle to search and Honor Parallel Space, which, coupled with dual SIM support, allows users to split the main display for two separate phone profiles and apps.
The Magic V3 is powered by a 5,150 mAh silicon-carbon battery, supporting 66W wired and 50W wireless charging. It is available in red, white, green, and black, with prices starting at CNY 8,999 ($1,240) for the 12/256GB model, reaching up to CNY 10,999 ($1,516) for the 16GB RAM and 1TB storage variant.
With the Magic V3, Honor continues to push the boundaries of foldable smartphone technology, delivering a device that balances performance, design, and innovative features.
